Ann R. McCarthy

ISHPEMING, MI. – Ann McCarthy, age 94, passed away Thursday, April 10, 2014. She had been a resident at the Marquette County Medical Care Facility for the past five years and prior to that she lived at the Pioneer Bluff apartments in Ishpeming.

Ann was born in Crosby, Minnesota on October 4, 1919 to the late Genaro “James” and Mamie (Tondo) DiFruscio. She moved to the Ishpeming area and lived there all of her life. She worked as a waitress at several places in town. Ann also worked at Vet’s Cab and operated Salo’s Lunch counter. Ann enjoyed her family, playing cribbage, knitting, crocheting, Bingo and outings with her family and her special friend Sarah LaPoint.

She is survived by her children, Ann (Clifford) Trudell of Ishpeming and Donald McCarthy of Juneau, WI, also her grandchildren – Doug, Nancy, Paul (Lori), Scott Trudell of Juneau, WI and Samantha McCarthy of Hawaii. Ann was also blessed with very special nieces and nephews.

She was preceded by her husbands – Toivo Salo, Urho Salo and Robert Mc Carthy, her parents and family members – Josephine Barry, RoseMary Crowe, Violet Mustamaa, Elenore Saari, James DiFruscio and Milinna Asgaard.

Ann’s family will greet relatives and friends from 3pm 5pm on Friday, April 25, 2014 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 5:00pm on Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Dan Moll officiating. A luncheon will follow in the Church Hall.

Our family would like to thank the staff at the MCMCF for the wonderful care they gave to Ann, particularly the 6th wing. We would also like to thank the Ishpeming Catholic Community for the support they have shown to us.
