NMU’s Superior Dome receives new video board

MARQUETTE – Northern?Michigan University installed a new Daktronics video board on the west end of the Superior Dome over the weekend in time for the Wildcats’ spring football game at 4:30 p.m. Saturday.

In addition to scores, statistics and announcements, starting in the fall the video board will provide high-definition instant replays during football games. The video board, which became operational this week, measures 22 feet, 11 inches high and 26 feet, 4 inches wide.

The total project cost the university $280,000 and was completely funded by private sector corporate partners, according to NMU athletic director Forrest Karr.

NMU installed a new Daktronics scoreboard on the east end of the Superior Dome in 2012. Both replaced scoreboards that had been in the Dome since it opened in 1991.
