GREEN VALLEY, AZ. – Corrine Maxwell of Green Valley, AZ, died at St. Mary’s Hospital on April 2. She was 85 years old.
She was born July 16, 1928, to Einar and Mayme Anderson in Ishpeming, MI, where she grew up.
After high school, she went to an airline stewardess school. The airlines raised the minimum age of employment to 21, so she became a waitress, then banquet manager and on to opening a used bookstore in Michigan and Wisconsin, and finally The Book Shop in the Green Valley Village in 1995, which she sold in 2012.
She was married in 1949 to Harry (Bing) Maxwell and she had four children.
She is survived by her daughter; Mary Jo (Thomas) Connors; a son, Peter Maxwell; and sister, Phyllis Peterson of Green Valley; and six grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her parents and a sister; Jeannette Vogl; a son, Patrick Maxwell and a daughter, Kathleen (Martin) Latta.
Corrine was a caring, generous person. She donated her body to Science Care.
A memorial service is to be later in Ishpeming, MI.
