Sharon Anne Conroy Marion
LAKE INDEPENDENCE, MI. – Sharon Anne Conroy Marion, 62, of Lake Independence, died peacefully at home on Monday March 24 surrounded by family and under the care of Lake Superior Hospice.
Sharon was born November 29, 1951 in Detroit, Michigan to James and Isabelle Conroy. She graduated from Berkley High School in Berkley. She then attended Northern Michigan University where she had her exposure to the U.P.
Sharon married Patrick Marion in 1976 and together they raised two children. She was especially proud of her children and worked hard to raise them into the fine adults they have become.
They lived in Berkley and then Royal Oak, Michigan. Sharon worked for many years at Beaumont Hospital, which was also where she met Pat. Later she went to work for the Berkley School System from where she would eventually retire. Having a sister and brother-in-law in the U.P., several trips would be made yearly to their home on Lake Independence. Vacations were always special and the beauty of the area would eventually draw them to retire here in 2010.
Throughout her life, Sharon was always involved in some sort of craft from jewelry making to china painting. An avid gardener, one of the biggest goals was the clearing of a wooded area to create her flower and vegetable garden, which has been thriving ever since. Her beautiful smile and love of all people would make her friends wherever she traveled. One of the last friends she made was Abby, her “pretty faced girl” adopted through UPAWS.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, James and Isabelle of Berkley and a sister, Sue (Joe) Berry of Lake Independence. She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Pat; son, James (Julie) Marion of Royal Oak, MI and a daughter, Heather (Brett) Mack of Eau Claire, WI.
The family wishes to thank Louise and Chris from Lake Superior Hospice, Tammy Reyerse, and the many family friends for their love and support during this time.
Memorials may be directed to UPAWS (Upper Peninsula Animal Welfare Shelter), PO Box 968, Marquette, MI 49855 in Sharon’s memory.
A celebration of Sharon’s life will be held later this summer. The Canale-Tonella Funeral Home is assisting the family where memories may be shared at canalefuneral .com
