PEAK gymnasts compete downstate in Lansing

MARQUETTE – Several gymnasts from the USA Gymnastics Competitive Team of PEAK Gymnastics and Fitness took first-place awards at a meet held in East Lansing on Feb. 8.

The five-member team competing at USAG Level 4 included Kylar Kallioinen, 12, who won the floor exercise with a score of 9.325, Haddie Ketzenberger, 10, who won her floor exercise with 9.3, May Waters, 12, who took bars with a score of 9.35 and Ericka Asmus, 11, who won her floor exercise with 9.4.

Also competing was Kaleah Puskala, 11, whose top finish was sixth place in vault with 8.2.

The team placed fifth overall and is now preparing for the state meet to be held in Saginaw on April 26.

Here are the other places and scores for the girls:

Kallioinen, eighth in vault, 8.3; fourth in bars, 9.25; 11th in beam, 8.3; and seventh in all-around, 35.175.

Ketzenberger, 20th in vault, 7.65; third in bars, 9.35; third in beam, 9.175; and third in all-around, 35.475.

Puskala, 10th in bars, 8.4; 10th in beam, 8.2; seventh in floor, 8.8; and ninth in all-around, 33.6.

Waters, 13th in vault, 7.85; 13th in beam, 8.1; 10th in floor, 8.775; and ninth in all-around, 34.075.

Asmus, ninth in vault, 7.85; sixth in bars, 8.95; 11th in beam, 8.15; and sixth in all-around, 34.35.
