NMU women’s basketball: Wildcats’ Colla named to All-Midwest Region second team
MARQUETTE – Northern Michigan University women’s basketball player Alyssa Colla has been named to the Daktronics Inc., All-Midwest Region second team in a vote of the region’s sports information directors.
The junior guard leads the Wildcats in scoring with 16.3 points per game while starting all 29 contests this season. Several weeks ago, Colla became the 23rd player in NMU history to reach 1,000 career points and is now 21st all-time at NMU with 1,058.
Colla was an All-GLIAC First Team selection and was named to the GLIAC All-Defensive Team while earning GLIAC Player of the Week Honors twice during the regular season.
After winning the GLIAC Women’s Tournament in Detroit last weekend, the Wildcats face Quincy in the opening round of the Midwest Regional in the NCAA Division II Women’s Basketball Tournament at 9:30 p.m. today in Springfield, Mo.
A win there puts NMU into a Sunday game in Missouri.
