Edison (Ed) R. Thompson, Jr.

GWINN, MI. – Husband, Dad, Grandpa, and friend. These are just a few of the many hats he wore. Ed Thompson, age 74, of 248 S. Johnson Lake Drive, formerly of Tecumseh, Michigan, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, March 9, 2014 with his wife and daughter, Naria, by his side, following a brief battle with cancer.

Ed was born on June 27, 1939 in Ambler, Pennsylvania, son of Ruth and Edison Sr. Growing up, Ed spent endless summers on the Jersey Shore sailing. He also lived for many years in Tecumseh, Michigan, where he was an HVAC Contractor. He was also very active with the Tecumseh Kiwanis. In 2002, he moved his family to “God’s Country”, where he continued as an HVAC Contractor and Property Manager. Ed was a very active community member; serving on several township boards, Chamber of Commerce, Alliance Committee and Forsyth Snowmobile Club.

Ed is survived by his wife, Michelle; 3 daughters, Naria, Martha and Audrey; sister, Mary Jane; grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at the Little Lake Bible Chapel on Sunday, March 16, beginning at 4:00 pm. A memorial service will follow at 6:00 pm with Pastor Ron Westman officiating. Following will be a light dinner.

The family would like to thank Karen and everyone at Upper Peninsula Home Health and Hospice for their care, compassion and dignity that they extended to Ed and his family.
