Cain gets 8-ball break in Ishpeming

ISHPEMING – Pam Cain of VFW had an eight-ball break against Venice in Ishpeming Women’s Pool League play on Feb. 25.

Hickey’s I solidified its position at the top of the standings with a 12-4 victory over Jack’s I, while second-place American Legion downed Jack’s III, 10-6.

In other matches, Rainbow moved into third place with a 11-5 win over Rumorz, Hickey’s II held off Paradise, 11-5, and VFW edged Venice, 9-7.

Ishpeming Men’s Pool League

In Week 6 results, Rumorz II edged Riverside Club, 13-11; Paradise crushed Hickey’s II 17-7; Wonder Bar thumped Rumorz I, 16-8; Tilden Club clobbered Jack’s III, 17-7; and Hickey’s I held on to first place by beating Jack’s II, 14-10.

Also, Rumorz III bumped Jack’s I, 15-9; Venice stopped Rainbow, 14-10; and Wayside had the bye.

Darryll Larson of Venice and Pete Epper of Jack’s I each posted a table run.

In addition, Scott Patrick of Rainbow and Miles Martin of Jack’s II recorded 8-ball breaks.

The Kenny Blemke Memorial Singles Tournament will be held on Saturday, March 15, at Country Billiards. Registration will be at noon, with the tourney to start at 1 p.m.

Gwinn Women’s Pool League

In week 23 results, the HideAway Tribe smacked Joker’s, 12-3; Cascade dumped Happy Hour II, 11-4; VFW downed Happy Hour I, 11-4; and the Rowdies bounced Throttle II, 10-5.

Also, Richmond Township defeated the American Girls, 9-6; Up North Lodge edged Throttle I, 8-7; and Gwinn Inn toppled Sturgis, 9-6.
