MARQUETTE, MI. – George W. McNally, age 73, of Marquette, entered eternal life on Sunday, March 9, 2014, at Marquette General Hospital, in the loving care of his family.
Born January 9, 1941 in Marquette, a son of Lawrence and Agnes (Howatt) McNally, George was raised in Trenary and attended the Mathias Township School.
He worked at Cliff Dow for seven years and, during that time, married the former Gloria Jean Ingison on March 16, 1960. The couple moved to the Flint area in 1966 and George began a 30 year career with General Motors as a tool crib attendant.
He retired on July 1, 1996. Following retirement, the couple returned to Trenary where he was able to enjoy his love of deer hunting.
Being a true GM man, George loved his Silverado pickup trucks and, from his younger years, maintained the enjoyment of working on his vehicles in his garage. George was a member of the Salvation Army.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Gloria; his daughter, Debbie (Ed) Brown of Trenary; three sons, Dale (Teresa) McNally of Goodrich, MI, George (Karen) McNally, Jr. of Flint, MI, and Shawn (Kristi) McNally of Davison, MI; six grandchildren, Kristal McNally, Emily McNally, Kyle McNally, Kayala McNally, Bryce McNally, and Skylar Cameron; his brother, Earl (Sally) McNally of Gladstone; his sister, Dorothy Hamailen of Oregon; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters and two brothers.
The family will receive relatives and friends at the Marquette Salvation Army Chapel on Thursday, March 13, from 3:00 pm until the time of service at 4:00 pm. A reception will follow.
