MARQUETTE – Anne Lois Holly, age 86, of Marquette, entered eternal life on Wednesday, March 5, 2014, at Marquette General Hospital, in the loving care of her family.

Anne was born August 20, 1927 in New London, Connecticut, a daughter of Daniel and Helen (Kachinski) Petrosky. She was raised in New London and graduated from The Williams Memorial Institute, an all-girls high school for the girls of New London. She married George W. Holly on August 21, 1945 and the couple made one of their first homes in Rockland, Maine, where Anne worked in a hardware store. They began raising a family and, in 1951, moved to Carlshend, where George was originally raised.

In 1956, Anne began a career in the cosmetics industry that was to last for 49 1/2 years as a sales representative for Avon. She represented Avon in the Marquette area and won numerous awards for outstanding sales achievement. Over the years, she was named to Avon’s President’s Club, Honor Society, and Rose Circle.

George and Anne later moved to Marquette and the Holly family lived for a time in the Marquette lighthouse while George served in the US Coast Guard. Anne retired from A von in 2005. An avid collector, Anne’s particular focus was with knick-knacks, especially Precious Moments and Betty Boop. She also enjoyed working crossword puzzles, going out for breakfast with her friends, and, in later years, watching television. She also loved cats and had many over the years.

Anne is survived by her daughters, Chris (Lee) Crothers of Marquette and Terry Holly of Fayetteville, AR; grandson, Chad (Leslie) Crothers of Marquette and great-grandson, Travis Crothers; a sister, Sonya Bakkum of Moorhead, MN; a sister-in-law, Emily Petrosky in North Carolina; and many nieces and nephews.

Anne was preceded in death by her parents; husband, George, in 1979; brothers, John D. Peters and his wife, Gali, and Michael D. Petrosky; and a brother-in-law, Eugene Bakkum.

Honoring Anne’s request, no public services will be held. Interment will be made in the Park Cemetery.
