NMU track and field: Wildcats named to All-Midwest Region teams

MARQUETTE – Northern Michigan University has three members of its women’s track and field team named to the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-Midwest Region squad.

Senior Cheyenne Stewart, junior Ebony Young and junior Christina Toogood made the list of honorees.

Stewart and Young were named all-region after their performances in the triple jump at the GLIAC indoor championships March 1-2. Stewart won the event with a record-breaking jump of 12.32 meters, while Young placed third, jumping 11.72 meters

Toogood earned all-region honors after she finished third in the 800-meter run at the GLIAC’s in 2:13.81.

Stewart and Toogood will travel to the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships at the JDL Fast Track in Winston Salem, N.C., on Friday and Saturday.
