1 hurt in Ishpeming accident
MARQUETTE – One person was injured in a two-vehicle crash Monday night in Ishpeming Township.
The accident happened at 8:35 p.m. on U.S. 41 West in front of the Ishpeming Township Fire Hall, just west of North Lake Drive, according to a report from the Marquette County Sheriff’s Office.
A 1999 Ford pickup truck being driven by Eugene Blecker, 35, of Ishpeming, was attempting to pull into traffic from the fire hall driveway when it failed to yield and collided with a 1994 Ford Taurus being driven by John Webb, 53, of Champion.
Webb was transported to Bell Hospital’s emergency room for treatment of minor injuries and was later released, police said.
Blecker was uninjured and was found to be at fault for failing to yield, according to police.
Both vehicles sustained heavy damage and were towed from the scene.
Assisting the sheriff’s office at the scene were the Ishpeming Township Fire Department and Bell EMS.
