Local DWTS a positive fundraiser, experience for area
In homes across Marquette County, people are practicing their fox-trots, two-steps and tangos as the contestants in this year’s “Dancing with the Stars Marquette County Style” get ready for the May 22 competition.
The cast was announced last week and is comprised of Tyler Jenema and Monica Markvardsen; Jack and Kim Frost; Jennifer Huetter and Reed Benton; Julie Shaw and Jeremy Hosking; Christine Pesola and Joe Heck; Phil and Britta Pennell; Stephanie Zadroga-Langlois and Andy Langlois; and Tyler and Erin Gauthier.
We would like to thank these people for volunteering their time in this fun, fast-paced and family-friendly fundraiser for a worthy cause.
The Upper Peninsula Hospice Foundation is hosting the program inside Northern Michigan University’s Forest Roberts Theatre. Doors open at 5 p.m. and the show begins at 7 p.m. Tickets for the event will go one sale March 10.
All 100 percent of money raised will be donated to hospice patients and their families.
The event was a resounding success last year, selling out quicker than anyone expected.
Hospice is a growing industry, and one that we feel is a strongly needed part of the social fabric in Marquette County.
Hospice offers people who may have no other recourse the ability to stay at home despite their medical conditions. We understand the feeling of safety and security that comes with waking up in your own bed and seeing the view from your own living room window.
We hope the event is even more successful than last year and that more people can come to understand the good work done every day by hospice caregivers.
