MARQUETTE, MI – Terry Lynn Dupras, 63, of Marquette, passed away Friday morning, February 28, 2014 at Hillcrest Group Home in Ishpeming under the care of Hillcrest caregivers and U.P. Home Health and Hospice.
Terry was born on August 13, 1950 in Marquette to Donald E. and Virginia J. (DeMarinis) Dupras and was a lifelong Marquette resident.
Terry attended special education classes and was active in Special Olympics, winning many awards for swimming. She loved swimming, snowmobiling, spending time at camp and going on family outings. Music and dancing were favorite activities all throughout her life.
Terry and her family hold a special place in their hearts for Terry’s extended family who were also caregivers at Hillcrest Home in Ishpeming where she lived for the past seven years.
Terry is survived by her loving mother, Virginia Dupras of Marquette; three siblings, Sherri J. Shaw of Marquette, Donald S. (Cammi) Dupras of Marquette and Diane (Michael) Bennett of Iron Mountain; nieces and nephews, Sheila (Joe) Long of Miamisburg, OH, Michael (Renee) Bennett of Andover, MN, John (Shanna) Bennett of Negaunee, Cassie (Jake) Lauren of Negaunee, Kelsie (Spencer Rohr) Bennett of West Carrollton, OH, Christopher (Katlin Bolm) Kangas of Negaunee; also several great nieces, nephews and cousins, and an aunt, Rosemary Swanson of Marquette. Terry was preceded in death by her father, Donald E. Dupras in 1994 and a brother-in-law, David Shaw in 1999.
Friends may call at St. Michael Catholic Church on Tuesday, March 4th from 1:30 to 3 p.m. where a Funeral Mass will be celebrated in the church at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Greg Heikkala officiating.
Spring burial will take place in the Holy Cross Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Terry’s cousins, Bob, Jim and Larry Kuhn, and Darren Dupras and nephew Christopher Kangas.
