New art at arts and culture center
MARQUETTE – The city of Marquette Arts and Culture Center features artwork by oil painter Carolyn K. Snyder in the Main Gallery and Christy Binoniemi in the SmallWorks Gallery from March 4 through March 28.
Snyder’s work includes an examination of light and color reflected on water, patterns and shapes, and a self portrait study. A former medical illustrator at the Medical College of Wisconsin, Snyder focuses on transforming a 3-dimensional world in a 2-dimensional image.
Binoniemi uses wool roving to felt real life subjects by with techniques such as layering the fibers and the use of a single needle. To accompany this exhibit, Binoniemi will teach two needle felting classes at the MACC on March 15.
