Prep hockey: Marquette, Negaunee players receive All-GLHC recognition

MARQUETTE – The Marquette Senior High School hockey team was left off the All-Great Lakes Hockey Conference first team, but one Redman earned second-team honors.

Marquette sophomore defenseman Jake Phillips earned that honor as one of two sophomores to be named to the all-league’s first or second squads. Houghton forward Reid Pietila was named to the first team.

MSHS senior forward Alex Zerbel, MSHS senior defenseman Chris Amundsen and Negaunee junior goaltender Tyler Riutta received honorable mention.

Escanaba landed three on the first team, Houghton had two first teamers and three second teamers, while Hancock had one each on the first and second team. Like Marquette, Calumet had one second-team selection.
