Louis ‘Louie’ R. Piasecki

MARQUETTE, MI. – Louis “Louie” R. Piasecki, 97, of Marquette, died Saturday evening, February 22, 2014, at the Norlite Nursing Center, where he had resided since September 2013.

He was born August 7, 1916, in Marquette, a son of the late Andrew and Agnes (Nowaczyk) Piasecki.

Louie was a WWII veteran, serving in the US Army in the Central Europe Air Offensive.

On January 19, 1946 he married Josephine Klander in the Holy Family Church in Eveleth, Minnesota.

Louie was employed for 30 years as a bookkeeper for Levine Brother’s Plumbing & Heating. Following his retirement, he enjoyed fishing, traveling and spending time with his wife. He was a member of St. Peter Cathedral, life member of the Negaunee VFW Post #3165 and the United Commercial Travelers.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Josephine Piasecki of Marquette, who was by his side and holding his hand when he passed. He is also survived by his brother, Albert Piasecki of Marquette; and several nieces & nephews.

Louie was preceded in death by his parents and siblings.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 26, 2014 at 3 p.m. at the Canale-Tonella Funeral Home with Rev. Msgr. Michael Steber officiating. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service in the funeral home. Interment will take place in the Holy Cross Cemetery in the spring with military honors.
