UP Labor group to meet in Harris

MARQUETTE – The Island Resort & Casino Conference Center in Harris has been selected to host the March 6 annual conference of the U.P. Labor-Management Council.

The Annual Conference is entitled “Life After – Labor & Management Standing Strong in a New Era.”

The one-day conference will feature several educational seminars for participants. Marjorie Mitchell will kick off the conference presenting “Complying with the Affordable Care Act: Where do we stand?”

The second general session is “Common Mistakes Made in Arbitration” presented by Arbitrator Mark J. Glazer. Afternoon breakout sessions include “Last Chance Agreements” (Presenter TBA), and “Labor/Management Basics: Strategies to Prepare and Respond to a Grievance,” presented by Gary Timmer, UAW (Management Presenter TBA).

The final session for the 2014 Annual Conference will be “Activating A Personal Sphere of Influence: Motivating, Inspiring and Creating a Collaborative and Positive Workplace,” presented by Ken Trzaska, Dean of Instruction, Gogebic Community College.
