Select Negaunee residents asked to run water
NEGAUNEE – The Negaunee City Council has approved a resolution authorizing City Manager Jeff Thornton to put city water customers on a let-run as needed, with the hope that selective let-runs will help reduce the number of requests from city water customers to thaw and in some cases re-thaw their water lines.
But at the Feb. 14 council meeting, the council and Thornton stressed that the let-runs were not being instituted city-wide.
“Just so everybody’s clear – in no way are we doing a city-wide let-run at all,” Thornton said. “We are not. And we will not. We cannot. If the city of Negaunee did that, the (Negaunee-Ishpeming Water Authority Water Treatment Plant) could not supply the residents that still have water in Ishpeming.”
