Proposals for art awards wanted

MARQUETTE – The city of Marquette Arts and Culture Center is accepting design proposals for the annual city arts awards, and the deadline is Feb. 26.

Every spring, 10 artists are chosen to receive an award acknowledging their contribution to arts and culture in Marquette. Each recipient will receive a handcrafted award during the ceremony.

The artist selected to complete this project will be required to create 10 awards.

The stipend for the design and creation of the awards is $600. Past awards have included found-sculpture art, original watercolor paintings, one-of-a-kind ceramic pots and framed origami.

To be considered to make the award, artists are asked to submit the following: artist resume, application form, project proposal (1 page maximum), and project proposal Images (up to six).

Artist application, criteria and a time line can be found at the MACC in the Lower level of the Peter White Public Library in Marquette, or by visiting mqtcty.org/arts.php.
