NMU cross country: Menominee runner picks Wildcats
MARQUETTE – Kameron Burmeister of Menominee High School is one of three student-athletes who have signed National Letters of Intent to run cross country at Northern Michigan University.
Burmeister placed first in the 2013 MHSAA Upper Peninsula Division 1 Cross Country Championships, finishing the 5-kilometer course in 19:36.
She also finished second in the 2013 Division 1 U.P Track and Field Finals in the 1600-meter run (5:22) and 3200 run (12:05.40), while taking third in the 800 run (2:26).
Burmeister was an All-State, All-U.P. All-State Academic and All-Great Northern Conference Dream Team selection.
She will also run track at NMU, Ryan said.
The other NMU recruits are Caroline Brisbois of Falcon Heights, Minn., who competed in cross country and track/field at Roseville High School; and Vivian Hett of Burnsville (Minn.) High School.
“They will make a great addition to the program, and add depth and strength to an already strong team,” NMU coach Jenny Ryan said.
