Four arrested on meth charges in Munising

MUNISING – Four people are awaiting arraignment in Alger County District Court after being arrested Friday night on methamphetamine related charges at a house in Munising.

Michigan State Police troopers from the post in Negaunee Township were withholding the names of the three adult males and one adult female until they have been arraigned on charges related to manufacture and possession of meth.

Troopers from the Munising Detachment of the Negaunee post and detectives from the Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team served a search warrant at about 9:30 p.m. at a home in the 700 block of West Superior Street.

Police said an active meth lab was discovered and the components used to manufacture the drug were seized along with the meth that was allegedly produced. UPSET detectives, who police said are certified meth responders. seized the components, which are considered to be hazardous materials and took them to a secured holding facility.

The four individuals arrested were lodged in the Alger County Jail in Munising.

Troopers and UPSET detectives worked in conjunction with deputies from the Alger County Sheriff’s Office and officers from the Munising Police Department. Police were assisted at the scene by the Munising Fire Department.
