5th annual Chocolate Festival set for Sunday
MARQUETTE – The Superior Alliance for Independent Living’s fifth annual Chocolate Festival offers a sweet good time, according to one of its organizers.
“The chocolate festival is a fundraiser unlike any other in the area,” said Jessica Manier, SAILS’s program director. “The rooms are filled with fantastic chocolatiers, great live music, door prizes and silent auction items sure to make a loved one happy just in time for Valentines Day.
“And all this supports an inclusive social and recreation program for individuals of all abilities in our communities. The atmosphere is filled with laughter, love, generosity and of course lots and lots of chocolate.”
The festival will provide a chance to sample heavenly treats from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday in the Bottum University Center’s Great Lakes Rooms at Northern Michigan University.
Tickets are $10 for individuals and $25 for families. Tickets are available for purchase prior to the festival at the SAIL office at 1200 Wright St. in Marquette, and also will be available at the door.
The Chocolate Festival is an annual fundraising event to raise awareness about the inclusive social and recreational activities for persons of all abilities through SAIL’s Single Point for Activities and Recreation Program.
This year, the festival is co-sponsored by Thrivent Financial, Simply Superior Catering and Events and SAIL.
The participating chocolatiers, bakeries and restaurants include: Donckers, Midtown Bakery, Sayklly’s, The Marquette Food Co-op, Das Steinhaus, Everyday Wines, Brownstone Inn, Econo Foods Bakery, Super One Foods Bakery, The Wild Rover, Simply Superior, NMU Hospitality and Aubrees Pizzeria and Grill. There will also be milk donated by Jilbert Dairy and coffee donated by Dead River Coffee.
Eclettico and Gessica Wachter will provide live music.
“SAIL would like to offer a huge thanks to all of the silent auction and door prize donors and our wonderful volunteers,” Manier said. “We look forward to a great event. Thank you for your support.”
