NEGAUNEE TOWNSHIP, MI. – Rosemary Ann Juchemich, age 63, of Negaunee Township, entered eternal life Tuesday evening, January 28, 2014, at her home, as the result of a house fire.
Rosie was born August 22, 1950 in Detroit, a daughter of Clinton and Rachael (Godin) Groos. She was raised in Escanaba and graduated from Holy Name High School in 1969. She enrolled in cosmetology school and, after receiving her license, worked for a time at a beauty shop in Escanaba. On June 2, 1972, Rosie married Daniel John Juchemich in Escanaba and together the couple made their home on Hoist Road in Negaunee Township, where they raised their family. Throughout the years, Rosie enjoyed her role as stay at home mom and homemaker, later serving as a caregiver to the elderly.
She later joined forces with her daughter-in-law, Melanie, and together, the two started a cleaning business which they operated until Rosie retired due to ill health. Rosie enjoyed cooking and decorating her home for the different seasons and holidays. She and Dan would often join their friends, Bev and Louie Wernholm, for get togethers two or three times a week; the gals playing cards while the guys went out for coffee. Rosie also had a passion for rummage sales and summers were filled with she and Bev rummaging and Dan printing maps of the prime sale locations. She was a frequent donator and customer at St. Vincents, Goodwill, and the Salvation Army Thrift Store.
Survivors include her husband of 41 years, Dan Juchemich, Sr; her children, Michelle Lee Polich of Big Bay; Dan “Bucky” (Melanie) Juchemich, Jr of Negaunee Township and Bryan Leo Juchemich of Negaunee; her granddaughter, Liberty Rain Denofre; a brother Tom Groos of Escanaba; and several nieces and nephews.
Rosie was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Jerry Groos.
A family celebration honoring Rosie’s life will be held in the spring.
