Larry Wayne Hoevker
ISHPEMING, MI. – Larry Wayne Hoevker, age 59 of 724 Bank St Ishpeming passed away unexpectedly at home on Sunday, January 26, 2014.
Larry was born November 17, 1954 in Chicago Heights, IL to the late Walter & Mabel R. (Snell) Hoevker. He graduated from Ishpeming High School. Larry was a union construction worker, working from Local 1086 of Iron Mountain and more recently from Local 330 of Menasha, WI.
Larry owned and operated Aunty Kathy’s Cafe in Ishpeming, he was a volunteer with the Feeding America’s Food Bank and was always willing to help people in need. He was a member of the Salvation Army in Ishpeming and was a Soldier of the Salvation Army for 30 years.
Larry is survived by his wife Kathy (Harmon) Hoevker, whom he married on November 18, 1989, 5 children: Benjamin (Christina) Board of Charlotte, NC, Larry Wayne (Melissa) Hoevker Jr. of Gwinn, Bryan Board of Manitowoc, WI, Andrew Hoevker of Chicago, IL and Mabel Jane Hoevker of Marquette, 1 sister: Sandra Summers of Ishpeming 2 brothers: Walter Hoevker of Steger, IL and Mark Summers, 11 grandchildren: Analise, Trent, Tyler, Kayla, Kaile, Spencer, Trevor, Devin, Gavin, Phillip and Grace, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents and 4 sisters: Mary, Marie, Dottie and Shirley.
Larry’s family will greet relatives and friends form 12:00 noon-2:00pm on Thursday, January 30th at the Salvation Army in Ishpeming where a memorial service will be held at 2:00pm with Captain Joel Arthur to officiate.
