NMU students present research
MARQUETTE – Three Northern Michigan University students presented their research at the National Collegiate Honors Council Conference in New Orleans recently.
The students were Rozemary Howard of Gaylord, Charlotte Cialek of South Lyon, and Jessica Ulrich of Fenton.
Howard, who presented “Detection of mRNA in dendrites via FISH,” is a zoology major. Cialek, who presented “Introducing stabilization mutations K82D and N108K in single-chain human hemoglobin dimer,” graduated in December with a degree in biochemistry and was selected as the student commencement speaker. Ulrich, who presented “Enduring struggle for freedom: the Atlantic slave trade and modern sex trafficking,” is a biology secondary education major.
Also attending the conference was Michael Joy, NMU professor and Honors Program director.
