Peggy L. ‘Peg’ Kipling
ISHPEMING, MI. – Peggy L. Kipling, ‘Peg,’ age 58, of 105 Marble St., West Ishpeming, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 7, 2014 at her home. She was in the loving care of her family and the Upper Peninsula Home Health and Hospice.
Peggy was born February 12, 1955 the daughter of Irvin Korpi and Alice (Kerkela) Korpi. She grew up in West Ishpeming and was a graduate of the Ishpeming High School, Class of 1973. She has been married to her high school sweetheart Jim Kipling for the past 38 years. Peggy worked for Lake Shore, Inc. in Negaunee Twp. which later became Miller-Bradford & Risberg Inc. as the branch secretary for 25 years. Most recently she worked in the office at Northern Health Chiropractic in Ishpeming.
Peggy was a member of the Bethel Lutheran Church in Ishpeming, where she had taught Sunday school for a number of years. Peg was devoted to her family and friends. She was an outstanding hostess who always made her guests feel comfortable. If you were fortunate enough to be a guest at one of her famous get-togethers, you experienced her warmth and wittiness. She will be remembered for her great sense of humor.
Peg loved her dogs and cats; was a lover of nature and enjoyed taking care of others. She enjoyed playing in the couple’s volleyball league, bowling, and tending to her garden and yard, especially on the riding lawn mower. Peggy enjoyed spending time around the pool in the summer months and was always present at her children’s and grandson’s sporting events.
Survivors include her husband Jim Kipling of Ishpeming, son Brian Kipling of Ishpeming, daughter Kara Kipling of Hibbing, MN, mother Alice Korpi of Ishpeming, father Irvin Korpi of Ishpeming, brother Wayne Korpi of Diamondhead, MS, 2 grandsons Jaren and Jayce Kipling, mother-in-law Geri Kipling of Ishpeming, brothers-in-law and sisters-in law Roger and Bonny Kipling of Ishpeming and Terry and Kathy Kipling of Spring Lake, nieces and nephews Heather (Mark) Pease, Eric (Betsy) Kipling, Michele (Jon) DeVold, and Kristin Kipling, along with numerous great nieces, great nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her father-in-law, William Kipling.
The family will greet relatives and friends from 11:00am until 1:00pm on Friday January 10, 2014 at the Bethel Lutheran Church in Ishpeming. A memorial service will be celebrated at 1:00pm on Friday at the Bethel Lutheran Church with the Rev. Lauri O. Maki to officiate. Inurnment will take place at the Ishpeming Cemetery. A luncheon will follow the services in the church hall.
