Ronald F. P. Berg
SANDS TOWNSHIP, MI. – Ronald F. P. Berg, age 68, of Sands Township, entered eternal life Wednesday, January 1, 2014, at his home.
Ron was born July 17, 1945 in Hancock, a son of Paul Leonard and Gladys C. (Stoyle) Berg.
He came to Marquette at an early age and was a graduate of the Graveraet High School, Class of 1963. Following graduation, he enlisted in the US Navy during the Vietnam Era, serving as an electronic technician, and being honorably discharged in 1966. Returning to Marquette, Ron went to work for EH Anderson Company, working there while attending Northern Michigan University and pursuing a degree in marketing and management. He opened and operated his own company, Liberty Systems, until his retirement in 2000.
Ron was a member of the Masonic Lodge and a member and Past Master of Marquette Masonic Lodge 101, Valley of Marquette Scottish Rite Masons, Ahmed Shriners, and Order of the Jesters. He was also a member of American Legion 40 et 8, and the Negaunee Rod and Gun Club.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Linda (Rochon) Berg; his three sons, Paul (Hope) Berg of Kentwood; Brian Berg of Marquette, and Kenneth Berg of Marcellus; his daughter, Monique Berg of Marcellus; five grandchildren, Dominique, Kaelyn, Kenneth, Brianna, and Landen Berg; his father, Paul Berg of Marquette; a brother, Kenneth (Donna) Berg of Florida; sisters, Charlotte (Jerry) Pedersen of Washington, Paula (Tim) St. Amour of Marquette, and Joy (Manny) Barrientos of Florida; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Ron was preceded in death by his mother, Gladys Berg.
The family will receive relatives and friends at the Swanson-Lundquist Funeral Home on Monday, January 6, from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm, where a Masonic Service will be held at 6:30 pm. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 7, at the First Baptist Church, Marquette, at 11:00 am with Pastor John Robenault officiating. A reception will follow in the church fellowship hall. Burial will be made in the spring at the Sands Township Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family or the Ahmed Shriners Transportation Fund.
