Cliffs calendar winners named

ISHPEMING – The artwork of Cliffs Natural Resources Michigan employees’ children and grandchildren once again is displayed on the pages of the 21st annual Kids’ for Safety Calendar.

Winners were chosen from three age categories- 6 years old and younger, 7 through 10 years old and and 11 through 16 years old.

First place winners in each category received a $200 VISA gift card, second place winners received a $100 gift card, third place received a $75 gift card and fourth place received a $50 gift card. Two honorable mention entries were chosen from each category with the winners receiving a $25 gift card.

This year’s calendar winners and their parent/grandparent include:

– Six years old and younger – first place Michael Allen, 6, parent James Allen of the Empire Mine lab; second place Ava Gobert, 4, grandfather John Roose, Tilden Mine maintenance; third place Anika Ruspakka, 4, parent Steve Ruspakka, pit maintenance; fourth place Grace Jandreau, 4, parent Larry Jandreau, truck shop; honorable mentions, Lilyan Giese, 6, grandfather Paul Mattila, electrician, and MacKenzie Palmer, 6, parent Del LaPine, Tilden concentrator.
