NMU women’s hoops: Wildcats’ Colla named GLIAC North Player of the Week
MARQUETTE – Northern Michigan University junior guard Alyssa Colla was named the GLIAC North Division Player of the Week on Monday following the Wildcats’ wins at Findlay and Hillsdale to remain unbeaten in four league games this season.
Colla posted 11 points, seven assists, five rebounds and three steals against the Oilers on Dec. 14, then followed that performance with 24 points and six boards against the Chargers on Dec. 16.
Colla leads NMU (7-1) in scoring, averaging 14.5 points per game, and in minutes, playing an average of 31 per outing. She also has a team-high 30 assists.
Colla finished 10-of-10 free throw shooting against Hillsdale and Findlay to boost her league-leading field goal percentage to 94.4 percent. Counting only conference game, Colla’s 12 steals is also a league-high.
Northern is off for the holidays until Jan. 2 when it hosts Tiffin, followed by Ohio Dominican on Jan. 4 at the Berry Events Center in Marquette.
