Junior hockey: McLaughlin powers Royales past Rampage

MARQUETTE – Dallas McLaughlin of Marquette scored six goals and added two assists to spark the Marquette Royales Tier III junior hockey team to an 11-6 victory over the Wisconsin Rampage Friday night at Lakeview Arena in Marquette.

Linemate Lane King added a goal and seven assists, while Robby Gervino – the third member of the line – posted two goals and four assists.

The Royales jumped out to a 5-1 first period lead and pulled away in the second, scoring five unanswered goals for a 10-1 advantage.

The Rampage responded in the third period, outscoring Marquette 5-1 with the help of two shorthanded goals.

The two teams will meet again at 7:30 tonight at Lakeview. It’s the final night of the Skate for Life fundraising event.
