‘Project Nim’ showing Monday

MARQUETTE – DocuMonday presents “Project Nim” at 7 p.m. Monday in the Peter White Public Library Community Room, Marquette.

This documentary is about Nim, a chimpanzee who in the 1970s became the focus of an experiment which aimed to show that an ape could learn to communicate with language if raised and nurtured like a human child.

Following Nim’s extraordinary journey through human society, and the impact he makes on the people he meets along the way, the film is a biography of an animal people tried to make human.

“Project Nim” was released in 2011, is rated PG-13 and runs for 93 minutes.
