NMU swimming: Wildcats travel to Border Battle Invite in Stevens Point, Wis.
MARQUETTE – Coming off a dual meet sweep, the Northern Michigan University women’s swimming/diving team takes to the road today and Saturday to compete in the Border Battle Invite at Stevens Point, Wis.
In the Wildcats’ last competition at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire and Gustavus Adolphus dual meet, they defeated Eau Claire, 195-121, and Gustavus, 168-119, from Eau Claire, Wis.
On the season, junior Debbi Lawrence has led NMU in the 50 (23.73) and 100 (52.03) freestyle events, capturing career bests in both races.
Tara Dowling of Marquette leads the distance events, including a career best in the 1,000 freestyle with a time of 10:58.94, which came at the dual meet.
Northern junior Molly Kearney leads the divers, placing first in both diving events against Hillsdale and St. Cloud State/Moorhead, She also finished second in each event against Grand Valley State..
