NMU volleyball: Northwood takes out Wildcats

MIDLAND – The Northern Michigan University volleyball team fell into a three-way tie for second place in the GLIAC after losing a competitive four-set match at Northwood on Saturday.

The Timberwolves (20-7 overall) prevailed in four close sets, 25-20, 23-25, 25-21, 25-23, to join NMU (20-9 overall) and Ferris State at 13-3 in the GLIAC North Division, two games behind Grand Valley State.

Northern senior Kalli Herron led the Wildcats offensively with 16 kills, while senior teammate Lina Lopes added 10. Senior Kellisha Harley had seven kills and led in assists with 39. Defensively, sophomore Alex Berger had a team-high 19 digs. Harley and Lopes also had 11 digs each.

Freshman Alex Larsen posted six block assists, followed by senior Sarah Hamilton with five.
