‘About Town’ display at City Hall

MARQUETTE – The community art project About Town will be on display at Marquette city hall through December.

Five paintings of landmark buildings were painted by local artists in an unusual way.

Each photo was divided into nine sections, then each section was painted on a canvas panel by a different artist and reassembled to form a large picture.

The panels were done in many different styles and mediums, including oil, acrylic. watercolor, collage, encaustic, and fabric applique.

The project was developed and funded by the Lake Superior Art Association with support from the Marquette Arts and Culture Center. In all, 39 artists contributed their talents to the 45 panels that form the five finished works. For more information, call 250-7364.
