Tommy Jon Harvala

ISHPEMING, MI. – Tommy Jon Harvala, age 51 of 350 River St. Ishpeming Twp, passed away Thursday, October 24, 2013 at the Marquette County Medical Care Facility while under the care of his family and the Upper Peninsula Home Health and Hospice.

Tommy was born December 8, 1961 to Shirley (Warren) and the late Steven Richard Harvala. He graduated from Westwood High School, class of 1980 and attended Northern Michigan University.

Tommy worked for the UP Plumbers & Pipefitters Union, local #111 for over 20 years. He enjoyed throwing horseshoes and hunting. He was a member of the Riverside Club in West Ishpeming. Tommy was an avid Minnesota Vikings Fan.

Tommy is survived by his mother Shirley Harvala, 3 children: Kori Harvala, Kristi Harvala and Kelli (Tyler) Harvala-Norman, 3 sisters: Maureen (Tom) Allen, Stephanie Nelson and Beverly (John) Korpi, 2 brothers Richard (Patricia) Harvala and Glen (Sharon) Harvala all of Ishpeming along with many nieces and nephews.

Tommy was preceded in death by his father Richard “Dinky” Harvala, brothers-in-law Paul Nelson, Joseph Moyle, and great nephews Joey Moyle and Max Baldini.

The family will greet relatives and friends from 10:00am until 12:00 noon on Saturday, October 26, 2013 at the Bethel Lutheran Church. Memorial services will follow at 12:00 noon on Saturday, October 26, 2013 at the Bethel Lutheran Church with Rev. Lauri O. Maki officiating. A luncheon will follow the services in the church hall.
