Harolyn Mae Menapace

ISHPEMING, MI. – Harolyn Mae Menapace, age 64, formerly of 246 Jackson Street, Marquette, entered eternal life on Wednesday, October 23, 2013, at the Marquette County Medical Care Facility, where she had resided for the past 11 years, following a long, courageous battle with Multiple Sclerosis.

Harolyn was born November 23, 1948, in Marquette, to Harold and Jean (Boudreau) Menapace. Raised in Marquette, she graduated from the Marquette Senior High School in 1966 and continued her studies at Northern Michigan University, receiving her teaching degree in chemistry in 1970. She began her teaching career in Grand Marais, Michigan, and in addition to teaching, also worked at the J.C. Penney and F.W. Woolworth stores. Harolyn was rather crafty, spending some of her spare time painting, drawing, and sewing. She was an exceptional cook and enjoyed traveling. Earlier in her life, she was active in the Girl Scouts and loved being Scout Leader for Troop 310.

Harolyn is survived by her sister, Nadene (Stephen) Judd of Gwinn; her brother, Eugene (Sally) Menapace of Marquette; nieces, Tia Jean (Bradley) Paquette of Munising, Cassie (James) Fortin of Big Bay, Tammy (James McCabe) Wills of Marquette and Heather LaCombe of Ann Arbor; one great-niece and one great-nephew.

In addition to her parents, Harolyn was preceded in death by numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
