NICE?looks at security cameras

ISHPEMING – The NICE school board is expected tonight to consider bids for the installation of security cameras in its schools, the extension of a contract for engineering services and discuss administrative contracts.

NICE has received bids from several different companies to install school security cameras, according to NICE Community Schools Superintendent Bryan DeAugustine.

“We’re going to put it before the board to select, and obviously they’re going to select the lowest bid,” he said.

Money for the cameras will come out of the school district’s sinking fund, the committee of which has provided their recommendations.

The finance and operations committee will also discuss administrative contracts.

DeAugustine said that several school administrators’ contracts are set to expire soon, and the board will begin preliminary talks about renewing those contracts.

The board will also consider extending the district’s contract with Marquette and downstate Brighton-based Integrated Designs Inc.

DeAugustine said IDI provides engineering services to NICE schools.

“Their contract expires on Dec. 31 of this year, and (the board will) consider extending that contract,” he said.

The board will meet at 6:30 p.m. at the Westwood High School Media Center.
