Curtis C. Heath
SAN TAN VALLEY, AZ. – Curtis Charles Heath, age 58, of San Tan Valley, AZ died unexpectedly September 27, 2013.
He was born September 24, 1955 in Marquette, MI to Alfred and Elizabeth (Berglund) Heath and grew up in Skandia, Michigan.
Shortly after graduating from Gwinn High School in 1973, he joined the United States Air Force, and was stationed in California. He met his wife, Vicky, there, and along with her two daughters, Gina and Chantal, made his home in the San Francisco area. He received an associate degree in business management and administration from Solano College, Fairfield, CA in 1987. He was a long-time employee of Fleetwood Corporation (1985-2009) as a purchasing manager in their modular home division. He was most recently employed by Cavco Corp.
After many years in California, Curtis and his family transferred to Phoenix, Arizona, continuing his employment with Fleetwood. They bought a home there, and Curtis, an excellent craftsman, went to work remodeling it. He then built a stable for their horses and goats, and turned the backyard into an outdoor oasis. He was a talented artist and also enjoyed his many dogs, horseback riding, hiking, riding his motorcycle, and camping. When Vicky became ill, Curtis lovingly nursed her until she passed away in 2010.
Curtis is survived by his second wife, Marlene, stepdaughters, Gina Yeo and Chantal Miller, six sisters, Sherrill Heath, Skandia; Janis Deschane, Marquette; Patricia (Loren) Gies, Skandia; Connie (John) Mayer, Farmington Hills MI; Doreen (Mark) Skidmore, L’Anse; Marcy (John) Leppanen Ishpeming; and Elaine Hulme, Marquette.
He is also survived by his aunts and uncles, Beatrice Dupras, Helen (Gayle) Victory, Helen(Ken) Johnson, and Mary Heath; special sister-in-law, Kathy Oetken, many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins, co-workers, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife of thirty years, Vicky.
Curtis was a loving, fun, creative, hard working man. He went after life and love with his whole heart. When both of those failed him, he felt he could not go on. He will be greatly missed.
