Bonnie J. Beckman
MARQUETTE, MI. – Bonnie J. Beckman, age 58, entered eternal life Friday, October 11, 2013, at the Hospice Suite located at Marquette General Hospital, in the loving care of her family and the caregivers of Lake Superior Hospice.
Bonnie was born March 30, 1955 in Marquette, to Kaino Asplund and Ilene Theal. Raised in Marquette, Bonnie graduated from Marquette Senior High School in 1973. Just prior to graduation, Bonnie married Robert Carl Beckman Sr., and together the couple established a home and began raising their family in Marquette.
Bonnie worked various jobs around the Marquette area before taking a position with Tri-City Beverage that lasted around 10 years.
She later became self-employed, calling herself “The Computer Gal”. She built and repaired computers and enjoyed teaching her clients what they shouldn’t do to avoid having to bring their computers back.
In her spare time, she enjoyed camping, as well as spending time at the family camp in Deerton.
Bonnie traveled rather extensively around the country, taking many trips to Florida where she would find a beach and relax in the sun. She enjoyed playing Bingo with her sisters around the Marquette area, and occasionally they took trips to the casino to play the slots.
She was an avid Green Bay Packer fan and had a conflicting fondness for John Elway of the Denver Broncos. She was an extremely generous and caring person who would go out of her way to help others, and her family was the most important thing in her life.
Bonnie is survived by her children, Bobby (Lisa) Beckman of Marquette, Tammy (Devin) Moncrief and Bradley Beckman both of Jacksonville, FL; her grandson, Dawson, who was her pride and joy; her siblings, Michael (Sandra) Murray, Julie (Rodney) Ritari, Carol (Mike) Fosco, Lois (Pierre) Ogea, and John Asplund; her former husband, Robert Carl Beckman Sr. numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and also her cats trouble and sugar.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents.
The family will receive relatives and friends at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church on Wednesday, October 16, from 12:00 noon until the time of service at 1:00 pm.
The Fassbender Funeral is serving the family, where condolences may be expressed online at www.fassbenderfuneralhome.com.
