Florence Mary Delliss
ISHPEMING, MI. – Florence Mary Delliss, age 88, former resident of 111 Bluff St. in Ishpeming, passed away Monday, October 7, 2013 at the Marquette County Medical Care Facility while in the loving care of her family and UP Home Health & Hospice.
Florence was born June 15, 1925 in Negaunee to James & Florence Irene (Gorman) Anderson. Florence was a stay at home mom who raised six daughters.
While living in Republic she was active with the VFW Auxiliary, the leader for the Campfire Girls and active member of the Alter Society at St. Augustine Catholic Church. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church of Ishpeming in recent years. She enjoyed crafts and crossword puzzles.
Florence is survived by six daughters: Georgiana Hebert, Hannah Wixtrom both of Ishpeming, Rita (Richard) Kerkela, Nancy (Keith) Perry, Sandy (Joseph) Couveau and Karen Perry all of Republic, special “adopted” daughter, Karen (Harold) Richards of Republic, sister in law Barbara Roy of Ishpeming, step son Michael (Lynn) Delliss of Michigamme, step daughter in law Michele Delliss of Michigamme, 24 grandchildren, 58 great grandchildren, 9 great great grandchildren along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Florence was preceded in death by her parents, 1st husband Leo Nurmi, 2nd husband Louis Delliss, brother Melvin Anderson, step son Robbie Delliss, son-in-laws Leonard Hebert, Ronald Koski, Jack Wixtrom, James Perry, and special granddaughter Karen Davis.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10:30am Saturday, October 12, 2013 at St John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Ishpeming with Fr. John Shiverski officiating. Inurnment will take place in the Republic Township Cemetery.
Florence’s family will greet relatives and friends at St. John’s Catholic Church on Saturday from 9:30am until the time of service.
A luncheon will be held at the K/D Hall at St. Johns Church following the Mass.
