YMCA holding kayak, paddleboard classes
MARQUETTE – The YMCA of Marquette County is offering several kayak and stand-up paddleboard programs this fall.
The YMCA will provide all equipment for these programs, which are open to adults ages 18 and over. Except for one kayak safety class, all programs will be held at the Marquette Senior High School pool.
A five-week-long stand-up paddleboard yoga class will be held on Thursdays starting this week through Oct. 17 from 6 to 7 p.m. Cost is $75 for YMCA members and $110 for nonmembers.
Single-session kayak safety classes will be offered monthly on Saturdays this fall on Sept. 21, Oct. 19 and Nov. 23. This weekend’s class will be held at Tourist Park in Marquette, weather permitting. Each class runs from 9 a.m. to noon and cost is $53 for Y members and $80 for nonmembers. Single-session stand-up paddleboard yoga workshops will be offered twice on Saturdays, Sept. 28 and Oct. 12, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Cost for a session is $22 for Y members and $33 for nonmembers.
Two separate stand-up paddleboard fitness classes, each lasting four sessions over two weeks, are also being offered. Each will run on Mondays and Wednesdays.
The first begins Sept. 30 with hour-long sessions beginning at 6 p.m., while the second one starts Oct. 14 and starts at 7 p.m. Cost for either four-session class is $85 for Y members and $125 for nonmembers. For more information, call the YMCA office at 227-9622.
