Marie Louise (Frisk) Young

BEAVER GROVE, MI. – Marie Louise (Frisk) Young, 95, of Beaver Grove, went into God’s loving arms on Friday, September 6, 2013 with her loving and amazing family by her side at her son’s home.

Marie was born in Houghton, Michigan on May 17, 1918 to Otto E. and Ethel (Luneau) Frisk and was raised on Rail Street in Michigamme. She graduated from Northern Normal School and taught in Eben and Michigamme.

Marie married S.E. “Sully” Young on October 4, 1943 and began their family of nine boys and one girl. They resided in Beaver Grove, raising their family and enjoying their lives together.

She was a “SUPER” mom, gramma and great gram. Marie was a deeply religious woman and always found good in everyone, never wanting to be a burden to anyone. She was a member of St. Louis the King Catholic Church in Harvey as well as its altar society and choir, and was also a CCD teacher there. She belonged to a sewing club that really didn’t sew, but always remembered each other’s birthdays.

Marie will be forever missed by her family, friends and all who knew her in any way.

She is survived by 9 of her 10 children, Douglas (Claire) Young of Negaunee, Brett (Linda) Young of Little Lake, Ward (Sharon) Young of Marquette, Scott (Sue) Young of Marquette, Dirk (Debbie) Young of Grand Ledge, MI, Kurt Young of Pensacola, FL, Rock (Kate) Young of Marquette, Mary (Doug) Heidel of Pensacola, FL, and Michael (Kim) Young of Marquette; 13 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Also surviving is a daughter-in-law, Nancy Heidrich of Negaunee; her sister, Janet Foster of Ishpeming; sister-in-law, Roberta Frisk of Michigamme; brother-in-law, Frank (Bobbi) Young of Marquette and sister-in-law, Sylvia Stenbol of Appleton, WI; also her very dear friend, Theresa Larsh of Beaver Grove (she and Marie were known as the church ladies).

Preceding her in death besides her parents was her husband of 64 years, “Sully” Young; a son, Rob; brothers, Ernest (Rose) Frisk and Calvin Frisk; also a sister, Patricia (Lyle) LaPin.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 11th at St. Louis the King Catholic Church in Harvey from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Mass scheduled for 11a.m. in the church with the Rev. Benedetto J. Paris officiating and assisted by Deacons Scott Jamieson, Warren Vonck and Gregg St. John. Fellowship and lunch will immediately follow the Mass in Fr. Gauthier Hall in the church. Burial will take place next to her husband at Northland Chapel Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to St. Louis the King Catholic Church, the St. Vincent de Paul Society or Lake Superior Hospice.

The Young family would like to thank Dr. Leslie Robb, and Lynn and Natalie from Lake Superior Hospice for their care of Marie and her family. Also a big thank you for her care on the Cardiac Unit at Marquette General Hospital. Be at peace mom, we will love you always.

The Canale-Tonella Funeral Home is assisting the family where memories may be shared at
