Sawyer Dental Center recognized

K.I. SAWYER?- The U.P. Association of Rural Health Services joined with health centers across the country in observance of National Health Center Week in August. The Sawyer Dental Center in Gwinn is one of the clinic sites operated by the association.

The week, which ran from Aug. 11-17, was established to raise awareness about the mission and accomplishments of America’s health centers as local solutions for affordable and accessible health care.

One of the bright spots in America’s health care system, community health centers have been in existence for over 45 years.

Health centers presently serve more than 22 million people nationwide, and are increasingly becoming a provider of choice for many families, whether they are insured or not. Studies show the quality of care at a health center is as good as or better than private practices.

Last year, the clinics of the U.P. Association of Rural Health Services provided care to more than 9,000 patients.
