Prep boys soccer: Marquette finishes 2-1 in Wisconsin
RHINELANDER, Wis. – The Marquette Senior High School boys soccer team rebounded from a 4-0 loss to Ashland, Wis. in the morning to beat host Rhinelander, Wis. 5-1 in the afternoon on Saturday.
MSHS beat Stevens Point, Wis. on Friday evening to finish the weekend 2-1.
“The kids played great in the afternoon and made up for a sloppy game in the morning,” MSHS head coach Matt Tebo said.
Max Bednarek, Lehomm Pickard, Hunter Shaneberger and Mike Wiitala had the goals in the afternoon contest with Bednarek scoring twice and Wiitala scoring on a penalty kick. Andrew Banitt had two assists. Ben Wright and Johnny Beckman were also credited with an assist.
Tony Lackey made three saves in the morning but none in the afternoon match.
MSHS plays three more road contests in Petoskey next weekend.
