Board OKs contract with teachers

GWINN – The Gwinn school board ratified a contract between Gwinn Area Community Schools and the Gwinn Education Association at its meeting Monday.

Board President Gloria Bigelow said this morning the contract includes no increase on the base salaries of district teachers and does not provide any step increases the first year of the three-year contract.

The contract also calls for a hard cap health insurance policy.

Bigelow said the teachers union has also ratified the contract.

In other action, Bigelow said the board accepted changes to the K.I. Sawyer Elementary School handbook, and accepted bids from Jilbert Dairy for the district’s dairy needs and from Sara Lee for the district’s bakery needs.
