Library to screen ‘Guardians’
MARQUETTE – Summer Cinema will present a screening of “Rise of the Guardians” at 5:30 p.m. Aug. 28 in the Peter White Public Library Community Room.
This animated fantasy film is based on William Joyce’s “The Guardians of Childhood” book series, featuring the characters of Santa Claus, Tooth Fairy, Sandman and Easter Bunny. The plot revolves around an evil spirit known as Pitch, who lays down the gauntlet to take over the world. The immortal Guardians must join forces for the first time to protect the hopes, beliefs and imagination of children all over the world.
“Rise of the Guardians” features the vocal talents of Hugh Jackman, Alex Baldwin and Chris Pine. The film was released in 2012, is rated PG and runs for 97 minutes.
The public may bring a own takeout supper and enjoy this recently released feature film in a dinner theater setting.

Office Lean webinars offered
MARQUETTE – BHK Center of Excellence and Great Lakes Center for Youth Development have teamed up to provide a free, four-part webinar series on Office Lean. In this training, organizations will learn how to use the philosophies of Office Lean to create a culture where staff-lead continuous improvements can save time, money and frustration without costing a dime.
The series will consist of four webinars delivered over a six week period: Overview of Office Lean Aug. 24; Value Stream Maps and Effort/Impact Matrix Sept. 4; Kazian and Metrics Aept. 18; and 5S Sept. 25.
All webinars will be from 10 to 11 a.m. and are open to anyone interested in learning more about Office Lean.

Memorial tribute in Hermansville
HERMANSVILLE – The Michigan Traveling Memorial, a tribute to Vietnam veterans who lost their lives in Southeast Asia, will take place from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Aug. 24 and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Aug. 25 at the VVA Chapter 571 in Hermansville. There is no charge, but free-will donations will be accepted.
