Gloria M. Cain

MARQUETTE, Mich. – Gloria M. Cain, age 87, passed away Sunday, August 11, 2013, at the Marquette County Medical Care Facility, where she had been residing the past six years and five months.

She was born on May 3, 1926, in Wakefield, MI. and was the daughter of Garnet and Elizabeth (Johnson) Trudgeon. Gloria graduated from Wakefield High School and went on to graduate from St. Luke’s School Of Nursing (RN). Gloria married Clyde James Cain, on August 20, 1949. Clyde and Gloria were married for 58 years when Clyde preceded her in death in June of 2007.

A dedicated nurse who took pride in caring for and helping patients, Gloria worked on many different floors; however she spent most of her career as the Head Nurse of the Emergency Room at Marquette General Hospital.

She was a dedicated Mother and Grandmother who supported her children in every endeavor they took on, spending hours at the ice rink, ski hill and soccer field. Always telling them that they could do anything they set their minds to. Gloria was a very strong, caring, and selfless person who always put her family first.

Besides her career and family, Gloria was well known for her beautiful knitting projects, creating sweaters, afghans and scarves, but her incredible Christmas stockings were the envy of all.

Gloria is survived by her son, Dennis Cain (Karen) of Loveland, Colorado; daughters, Debi (Kirby) Juntila of Marquette, and Denise Cain of Manchester, Michigan; grandchildren, Emily and Matthew Cain, Olivia and Drew Juntila. She is also survived by several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband, Gloria was preceded in death by her infant son, Clyde and sister Grace Sanford.

The Family would like to thank Dr. Mike Grossman, Tami Grobar, and all of the nurses and aides who took such loving care of our mother.
