Prep baseball: Negaunee’s Hill named academic all-state

NEGAUNEE – Negaunee junior Luke Hill was the only Upper Peninsula player to be named to an academic all-state team by the Michigan High School Baseball Coaches Association.

Hill, a pitcher and second baseman, was one of 51 players statewide named to the Div. 3 team, a year after senior pitcher and rightfielder Tony Zampese earned the same honor.

Juniors and seniors are eligible for this MHSBCA but can only win it once, according to Negaunee assistant coach James Larsen II.

Hill was joined by teammates senior pitcher/infielder Dustin Goupille, junior catcher Zane Radloff, and junior outfielder Eric Lori for academic honors in their Div. 3 district.

In addition, Miners head coach Mark Hill was named District Coach of the Year.
