Fannie Armida Ruuska
MARQUETTE, Mich. – Fannie Armida Ruuska, age 97, formerly of 1540 West Ridge Street, Marquette, entered eternal life Tuesday morning, July 30, 2013, at the Norlite Nursing Center.
Born July 11, 1916 in Monson, Maine, a daughter of Thomas and Amanda Kyllonen, Fannie was raised in Iron River. On June 26, 1943, she married George Ruuska and the couple resided in Black River from 1943 until 1997 when they relocated to Marquette. Fannie was a member of the Independent Apostolic Lutheran Church in Black River.
Survivors include her daughter, Susan (Ken) Ruuska-Zupfer of Calumet, Minn.; two sons, George (Ann) Ruuska of Marquette and Leonard (Teresa) Ruuska of Hibbing, Minn.; 18 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren; a sister, Agnes Johnson; brothers, Edwin and Leonard Kyllonen; many beloved nieces, nephews, friends, and a host of brothers and sisters in faith.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George, in 2000; a daughter, Shirley A. Seppanen; brothers, Waino, John, Willie, and Alex; and sisters, Ann, Lempi, Edna and Elaine.
Relatives and friends may visit with the family at the Swanson-Lundquist Funeral Home in Marquette on Friday, August 2, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. and at the Independent Apostolic Lutheran Church in Negaunee on Saturday, August 3, from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. Mike Peterson will officiate. Fannie’s grandsons will serve as pallbearers. A luncheon will be served in the church fellowship hall immediately following services. Interment will be made in the Humboldt Township Cemetery.
